How to Make the Burning Bridges AI Video With a Friend
Put you and a friend at the head of the Burning Bridges party table. Which photos to use, how the two-person version plays out and how to post it together.
Last updated: 2026-10-14
The Burning Bridges AI trend started with one person at the head of a chandelier-lit dinner table, hand over their eyes, searching the room. The version that gets shared the most often has two people in it: best friends, roommates, couples, siblings, the group chat's main characters. One of you starts the move, the other copies it a beat later, and by the end you're both doing it while the room cheers.
Here's how to make it.
Coming soon. The two-person version isn't live on our generator yet. Today you can make the solo video from one photo. This guide shows how the friend version will work when it launches.
How the two-person version plays out
In our generator's "Me + a friend" version, the scene runs in three beats:
- The room. You and your friend stand side by side at the head of the table, silver cups in hand, nodding to the beat while the crowd cheers around you.
- The move. You lean toward the camera and raise a flat hand over your eyes, looking slowly left, then right. Your friend copies the move a beat later.
- The payoff. You both do the search together, burst out laughing, point at the camera and raise your cups. The guests throw their hands up.
Both of you are restyled into sharp going-out outfits in the spirit of what you're wearing in your photos.
Step by step
- On the home page, choose Me + a friend under "Who is in it" (coming soon; the generator offers the solo version for now).
- Photo 1 is you — the host who starts the move. Photo 2 is your friend, who copies it (coming soon, with the option above).
- Pick the format: 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or 16:9 for YouTube and X.
- Confirm you both agreed to be in it, sign in, and check out. Your video renders in the background and is saved in My videos when it's ready.
Want your friend to lead? Just swap the photos: whoever is in photo 1 goes first.
Pick the right two photos
The two-person version needs two separate photos, one face each. Don't upload a single photo of the two of you together — the model needs one clear face per image to keep each of you recognisable.
For each photo:
- Facing the camera, both eyes visible
- Even, soft light — daylight from a window is ideal
- Head and shoulders, not a full-body shot from far away
- No sunglasses, masks or beauty filters
Try to match the two photos: similar light, similar sharpness, similar distance from the camera. If one photo is a crisp daylight portrait and the other is a dim, blurry bar selfie, the video will make that gap obvious. More detail in our photo guide.
Ask first
Only use a photo of someone who has said yes — both to being in the video and to you posting it. Don't use photos of children, celebrities, or anyone who doesn't know. It takes one text message, and it's also the easiest way to get them to share it too.
Posting it together
- On Instagram, use a Collab post so the Reel shows up on both of your profiles and shares one set of views and likes.
- On TikTok, tag your friend in the caption so it shows up in their notifications and they can stitch or duet it.
- Captions that fit the move: "where she at?", "us at every party", or name the person you're both looking for.
- Label it as AI-generated if the platform asks you to.
Ideas that work well
- Best friends — the classic. One searches, one copies.
- Couples — you scan the room, your partner side-eyes you a beat later.
- Roommates or coworkers — the "us at the work party" angle lands well.
- Siblings — adult siblings only, with both of you on board.
More than two people?
Our generator does one or two people per video. If you want a bigger group, you can write it yourself in an image-to-video model that accepts several reference images: start from the "you and a friend" prompt on our free Burning Bridges AI prompt page and add a line for each extra person. Expect more re-rolls — every extra face is another one the model has to keep consistent.
